Alexandrion Group inaugurates second distillery

Alexandrion Group, the largest producer and distributor of spirits and sparkling wines in Romania and the only producer of single malt whisky in the country, inaugurated its second distillery, as part of the Group’s global expansion plan with production units. Located right next to the first distillery of the group, within the Alexandrion Saber 1789 Distilleries, from Dealu Mare region, Bucov town, Prahova county, this high performing distillery has double distillation copper pots and will be used, mainly, for the distillation of single malt whisky

The production capacity for Carpathian Single Malt, the first single malt whisky produced entirely in Romania by the Alexandrion Group, and commercially launched in 2022, will thus, increase, significantly.

“Alexandrion Group is rapidly expanding and this great progress generates the need to increase the production capacity for the flagship brands in our portfolio, which are required in ever greater quantities, both in Romania and abroad. We need state of the art distilleries that allow us to meet the demand and, at the same time, to maintain the exceptionally high quality of our beverages.

Yesterday we celebrated the success of a very complex project that spanned over 5 years. It took us 2 years to determine the technical requirements, it took the producer, one of the largest and most experienced technology suppliers in the world, founded in 1912, another 2 years to produce it and we needed 1 more year to make it operational. At yesterday’s event we honored the efforts and expertise of all the designers and engineers involved in this project, of Allan Anderson, Whisky Director and Master Distiller Carpathian Single Malt and wished success to the team which will be operating the distillery.

The success of an alcoholic beverage depends on three key factors: ingredients of highest quality, the experience and knowledge of the team that produces it, and the high-performance technology. We have all these at the Alexandrion Saber 1789 Distilleries.

Other distilleries will follow, we already have the design for the next one, which I will announce at the right time. In the USA and in Greece we already have two distilleries under construction.

Rhein Extra, the oldest sparkling wine in Romania and the official supplier of the Royal House of Romania since 1904, continuously produced for over 100 years at the Rhein & CIE 1892 Azuga Cellars, had an important role in the inauguration event. The moment when the new distillery was put into operation was celebrated by those present by toasting a glass of Rhein Extra. The presence of the sparkling wine also marked the strong link between tradition, quality and expertise that characterizes the wines produced at the Alexandrion Group’s winery and the spirits produced by the Alexandrion Saber 1789 Distilleries.

Due to state-of-the-art technology and innovative processes that enable the production of the highest quality alcoholic beverages, Alexandrion Saber 1789 Distilleries is now one of the most modern production facilities in Southeast Europe and one of the largest bottling centers in the region. Among the reference brands from the Alexandrion Group’s portfolio, produced here, are Carpathian Single Malt, Brâncoveanu Vinars, Alexandrion, Saber Elyzia and Kreskova Vodka.
