Hortifruct, the largest producer of cans in Romania, announces an increase in production in 2023 of over 20 million cans, bottles and jars, compared to 2022 when production was 15 million units. These figures are estimated due to increased production, as Hortifruct planted more vegetables at the beginning of the year than last year.

The expectations were confirmed even from the first harvested product: green garden peas which already have an increase of 62% compared to last year.

Hortifruct has the Naturelo brand in its portfolio and produces for its partners the following brands: Cămara Noastra, Freshona, Drag de România, Hanul Boieresc, etc. These brands are sold in partner stores: Lidl, Carrefour, Penny and Profi

The best-selling and most successful assortments of the last year were Naturelo’s containers of green garden peas and diced tomatoes. But, in the partner stores you can also find whole tomatoes or passata, beans: yellow or green, buillon, tomato paste and peach compote.

Hortifruct also announced that in 2023 new cans and jars appeared: cherry tomato paste, basil tomato paste, but also new varieties of jam and fruit jam (strawberries, berries, blueberries, peaches, apricots and cherries).

Thanks to the rainy spring, the fruit and vegetable crops produced more fruit, so I can say that the rain was very beneficial!”, said Aurel Ștefan, Domeniile Ostrov commercial director.

Hortifruct announces that the problem of domestic labor is very difficult to solve, but a solution is being tried with foreign labor.

Table grapes from Domeniile Ostrov

”Table grapes are superb at the moment, 2023 is one of the best years for this variety. From approximately 200 hectares of table grapes we have: 120 hectares of red “Moldova” grapes, 70 hectares of white “Victoria” grapes (these are Romanian grapes with large, cylindrical grains up to 750 grams per bunch, in addition there is the most resistant variety to storage and transport) and 20 hectares of white grapes “Italia”, declares Marius Comșa, agronomist engineer director.

Ostrov Estates estimates that the table grape harvest will begin on August 1st, with an excellent yield of between 25 and 35 tonnes per hectare as we have had sufficient rainfall, more than 20% above the normal annual average.

The producer Domeniile Ostrov concluded a partnership with the pilot Cristian Velciu

Ostrov Domains promotes fruit consumption both in the media and in partnership with karting driver Cristian Velciu. At 13 years old, Cristian is already a double champion of Romania and attributes his successes to the correct diet, the consumption of healthy fruits and vegetables from Romanian producers distributed by Domeniile Ostrov and the Hortifruct producers’ organization. The slogan under which the collaboration was initialed is ”Fruit for Champions!”.
