With an EBITDA of RON 260 million and an increase in the number of employees of 4%, Apa Nova Bucharest was one of the laureates of the True Leaders Awards Gala organized by ICAP Romania and Business Review Magazine on December 14, 2021. To find out more about what this recognition means and all the work that went into obtaining it, BR talked to Mădălin Mihailovici, General Manager at Apa Nova Bucharest.
How would you summarize 2021 for your company and what were the main achievements and accomplishments which brought you the True Leaders Award?
The biggest challenge faced by every manager, in the last period, is the current pandemic, which has put companies in front of a real test of organizational resilience, in order to ensure continuity at the operational level.
One of the most important objective and preoccupation was and remain the health and safety of our employees. We are providing essential services when our people were even more challenged, as they are at the forefront and have worked at accelerated capacity to deliver the same high standard services to our consumers. However, the competitive advantage that determined the resilience of our company was represented by the involvement of Apa Nova employees, who undertook the responsibility of providing water supply and sewerage services, continuously at high standards, no matter the overall conditions.
What this pandemic has taught us is that organizations should be dynamic, flexible, and able to continuously improve. Therefore, what kept us in the leading position was the ability to adapt extremely quickly to the new context, due to the organizational transformation started 6 years ago.
The challenges we face now have shown us that we are ready to deal with any provocation, given that, even during the pandemic, our team hasn’t suffered any alterations, and the company’s professionals worked with the same devotion and dedication to the best interest of the community.
What are your plans for the next year and what will you do in order to retain the True Leaders Award for another year?
Our desire is to constantly improve the lives of the people we serve, focusing on values such as respect, responsibility, solidarity, innovation, and customer-centricity. Specifically, in all operational processes we try to focus on the customer, giving greater importance to the services offered and the gradual but continuous increase their quality.
Apa Nova’s priority in 2022 is to continue and accelerate the implementation of the investment plan launched this year, focusing on projects to expand and modernize the potable water services and sewerage infrastructure.
Creating a digital ecosystem that is evolving and responsive to the current needs of the market remains a priority for our company, so that we can save resources, and be efficient in an area where flexibility and adaptability are at the core of competitive procedures.
Furthermore, the integration of ecological transformation and sustainability strategies, as well as implementing innovative technologies for sustainable development, all with the aim of improving the lives of the people we serve, remain paramount goals for our organization.
