SAP Romania was the winner of a True Leader Award at the recent True Leaders Gala 2022, organized by ICAP CRIF & Business Review Magazine, so we sat down with Diana David, the company’s Managing Director, for a follow-up interview in which she talked about the main achievements of last year and the plans and objectives for 2023.

How would you summarize 2022 for your company and what were the main achievements and accomplishments which brought you the recognition as the most profitable company in the industry you are representing & also a major player of the economy?

To us, 2022 was about finding the right balance between focusing on our people and our customers, and continuously developing and improving our solutions – all this while keeping the cloud at the core of who we are, what we do, and how we grow.

I always like to choose one word that sums up the year and I believe that for 2022, the most suitable one would be “adaptability”. We have been able to adapt our solutions to a market that is changing at an incredibly fast pace. Through our adaptability and flexibility, we have addressed the issues arising in the market and helped our customers overcome pressing challenges by supporting them on their journey to becoming intelligent and sustainable enterprises. Let’s take supply chain disruptions as an example.

As bringing the needed goods and services to end consumers in a predictable and consistent manner was and continues to be more important than ever, what we have been doing is contributing to making supply chains more resilient by focusing on enhancing agility, productivity, connectivity, and sustainability.

And we’ve done it all with the continuous help and dedication of our employees, whose innovative ideas and incredible skills and personalities brought us to where we are today. I have said it before, and I mean it: SAP Romania would not have come this far without its people.

What are your plans for 2023 and what will you do in order to retain the True Leader Award for another year?

Our priorities for 2023 cover several areas. On one hand, we know for sure that we will continue to help our customers transform into fully digital, resilient and sustainable enterprises. As we cover 25 different industries and offer solutions in different deployment modes for companies of all sizes, we have the tools and expertise to continue to adapt to the challenging demands of the market. Speaking of sustainability – at the risk of it sounding cliché, I would like to mention that it is one of our firm beliefs that if we can align our business goals beyond accelerated growth and productivity to building a sustainable world, we will be successful. We all share one planet and should do our part to protect it. That is why we are focused on ensuring that our customers run their businesses sustainably while achieving lasting business outcomes.

On the other hand, we will continue to create an optimal working environment for our colleagues to grow and develop. In addition, we plan to invest even more in expanding the pool of talent in the local market by partnering with and supporting organizations and institutions that share the same goals as we do. Looking at our solutions, we recently launched SAP Build, a programming platform that allows software to be developed with little to no IT knowledge. With this new offering we seek to address the labour shortage in a simple but innovative way – by targeting a much wider group of users – those groups of experts who are familiar with business processes, thus relieving IT departments of a wide range of tasks. We are therefore very much looking forward to 2023, but for the moment.
