Cargus’ Yannick Mooijman, the new CEO of the courier company since November 2022, will be a speaker at Business Review’s upcoming re:Focus on eCommerce, Retail & Logistics. He will be part of the first panel of the day, titled “The Future of Retail & eCommerce,” during which he will talk about his company’s latest feats in the courier market and its focus on sustainability.

“We cannot develop our business without taking a closer look on its sustainability and the impact it has for the community – it will be one of the driving forces for the courier industry in the next years. The increasing attention to environmentally friendly transport is leading the parcel market to adopt green mobility solutions to reduce CO2 emissions, such as out of home delivery. We invested in expanding our SHIP & GO network and this year we aim to reach 3,800 locations in over 1,500 areas, both urban and rural.” Yannick Mooijman, Cargus’ CEO declared.

Yannick Mooijman is Cargus’s CEO since November 2022. With more than 25 years of experience, Yannick’s expertise covers marketing and sales, mergers and acquisitions, strategy and innovation in multinational companies across Europe, the Middle East and the U.S. Also, Yannick has extensive experience in the courier industry –  in his former role as Managing Director for UPS, he led the day-to-day business across four countries (Hungary, Greece, Romania and Slovenia).

“I am honored to be given this opportunity and look forward to share my expertise and experience in support of the future growth and success of Cargus. I found at Cargus a team of professionals and ambitious people, with whom I want to continue to strengthen Cargus’ position as a leader of customer oriented, innovative solutions and to expand its business, both locally and internationally. We operate in a very dynamic market and it’s important to remain relevant by being agile, respond fast and in an effective manner to the needs of our customers while doing what Cargus is known for – providing excellent service.” Yannick Mooijman said on his appointment.

Yannick is a Dutch national and holds a Master’s in Business from the University of Groningen and attended various executive training programs at Harvard and Insead. Yannick is passionate about customer centric strategies that allow an organization to build and leverage a competitive advantage based on a strong service offering, customer experience and agile way of operating. He believes in success through trust, team work, ownership and partnership.

“For Cargus, 2022 was a year of development – we built a mature portofolio of products and services, developed digital solutions for ecommerce players and offered a suite of logistic solutions (modern warehouses, national Out Of Home network). It was also a year of planning the next steps and enhancing our team with new professionals, who brought a wealth of expertise and experience. ” Says Yannick Mooijman.

One important milestone for Cargus is developing the business internationally, by linking large e-commerce platforms with Romanian customers and helping local e-commerce platforms sell their products on international markets.  The company already made steps in this direction, tapping into European countries, such as Poland. There, Cargus opened its first cross-dock facility, started line-haul operations, and added local sales resources to the team. Next year, Cargus will continue to expand into countries such as Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Greece, and Bulgaria (inbound and outbound).

“2023 is the year of getting things done and further strengthen our core. We operate in a very dynamic market and this context has emphasized the importance of agility and flexibility in providing qualitative and innovative services to our customers. Planning without action is just half of the way. We will continue to strengthen our footprint on the domestic market, but tackle large international ones, develop new digital tools and services, take a closer look on how big data can improve our operations, develop new business segments and build an integrated system that will help growth-minded merchants fuel their businesses.” Adds the Cargus CEO.
