H.E. Ramona Chiriac (European Commission), a keynote speaker at Environmental & Sustainability Summit 2023

H.E. Ramona Chiriac, Head of the Representation of the European Commission to Bucharest, will deliver a speech at the beginning of Day 1 at the Environmental & Sustainability Summit 2023. The event, hosted at The Marmorosch Bucharest, Autograph Collection, will take place on October 4-5 and will host a paramount platform for discussions and debates around the most pressing issues facing the world of today and tomorrow.

H.E. Ramona Chiriac has nearly 20 years of experience in European business, gained both locally in Romania and across Europe. Through the roles she has held, she has developed strong skills in strategic communication and political representation, as well as an in-depth understanding of the political context in Romania.

“The EU is the first region in the world to have put its environmental and renewable energy targets into law. We are a global leader the transition towards a clean, sustainable, and circular economy. A third of the EUR 1.9 budget will be spent on environmental policies across all our financing programmes. The new European Bauhaus has three building blocks at its core: sustainability, design, and inclusion. We want to protect the future of our planet, including its energy security, which is increasingly relevant in the new geopolitical context that forces us to make the shift towards renewables. When it comes to design, we’re talking about a vision inspired by art and culture that goes beyond functionality. Finally, inclusion means focus on community, dialogue between cultures, academic discipline, and access to welfare for all communities, including vulnerable ones. Within the European Commission, she was primarily responsible for promoting EU values, providing information about funding opportunities, and disseminating knowledge about the EU through the organization of conferences, seminars, information campaigns, and workshops.
