Achieving a 100% green energy supply to power their network is a game-changing accomplishment. Vodafone Romania’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and adopting sustainable energy sources is not only innovative but also a pioneering step in the industry.

“Vodafone is a company that eminently facilitates connections and I’m not talking about the connection of networks but those between people, values, and communities. I think it is a sign of respect for communities to be increasingly sustainable. That’s why since 2020, we have tried and succeeded in powering our grid exclusively from renewable sources. From 2021 the entire Vodafone network in Europe is powered by renewable sources. Auchan Romania – Pioneer of the Deposit-Return System Award

Auchan Romania’s pioneering spirit in introducing the Deposit-Return System (DRS) and the successful recovery of over 23 million packaging items before the official launch of DRS is celebrated with the Pioneer of the Deposit-Return System Award. This achievement signifies Auchan Romania’s forward-thinking approach to environmental responsibility and the reduction of plastic waste. Their initiative sets a benchmark for promoting sustainable packaging practices.

“I want to thank all colleagues who have been and are part of this project. We are pioneers as I like to say because we are the first company to install the first RVM (Reverse Vending Machine) for recycling in Pitesti in 2011. This year we have installed these machines in all our stores and the results have been impressive. We implemented the DRS (Deposit-Return System) and in less than 6000 days we have collected more than 23 million packages, offering customers 0.5 RON for each returned package. We can say that our customers are familiar with the DRS and are ready for its implementation. We are glad to see that other retail colleagues have started similar actions and we believe that a collective action would have a major impact. Auchan continues to do responsible things and contribute to a better future, not only for a greener planet but also for a cleaner Romania.
