Mihai-Alexandru Cristea 26/01/2023 | 12:45

For his strategic and complex vision which led to outstanding results in 2021 and for finding the right business solutions and for his characteristic of being a trendsetter, Radu Savopol, Co-Founder 5 to go, took home two trophies at the previous edition of the Business Review Awards: the Best Romanian Brand of the Year (5 to go) and Entrepreneur of the Year. Now, for the 2023 edition of Business Review’s landmark awards gala, Savopol will return as a member and President of the Jury Committee! As a preview for the 18th edition of #BRAwards, but also for a recap of the past year, we sat down with the 5 to go co-founder for a special testimonial interview.

Nominate great projects and successful leaders for the 2023 edition of the Business Review Awards Gala! Enter the race for the Romanian business champions of 2022 by submitting your nominations until February 20

At the previous edition of the Business Review Awards, you won the Best Romanian Brand of the Year for 5 to go and the Entrepreneur of the Year trophy for yourself. Both awards came as a recognition for your activity in 2021, so what did they mean for you and your company and how did they impact your evolution in 2022?

Both prizes came as a recognition of our work throughout the whole year and they gave us a boost for the new year and have motivated us to work harder and give our clients and partners more than just coffee, but a full experience.

Last year, the judging process consisted of both judging applications by the esteemed members of the jury board and a popular vote. What did it mean for you to know that both the jury, comprised of some of the most esteemed business personalities in Romania, and the Business Review readership, mainly consisting of business professionals, managers and executives, considered you and your company such strong candidates?

This was such an honour for the entire team, and especially for me, because I’m very proud of them and all the good work. Personally, I try every year to become better and with the help of my team and my partner Lucian Badila (5 to go co-founder) to bring more and more ideas and put them into practice.

At this year’s edition, in early March, you will transition from Business Champion to Jury Member. How do you see this change and your new role, from being the one who is judged to being the one who evaluates other nominees?

First of all, I am grateful for being able to reach both sides and always I’m trying to be objective when it comes to analyzing the submissions. I’m excited about being part of the jury and really curious to see the evolution of this event and also the companies.

What are the main qualities that you bring to the Business Review Awards Jury Committee table?

The main qualities which I’ll keep in mind for the judging process are related to my expertise and abilities because I’m a part of the HORECA world already for 20 years now. Also, I put the accent on objectivity, good and doable ideas, strategies, and the experiences I went through.

Considering that 2022 was such a challenging year, what are the most important features that you will be looking at in the nominee applications?

Considering that the year 2022 was also a year of rehabilitation for more brands I’m looking for good strategy ideas, hard work, motivation, courage to take risk, and improvement.

Looking at this year’s award categories, which one are you most eager to judge and evaluate its nominees?

Honestly, I’m interested in each and every category, but I’m most curious about the Innovator of the Year category, but also the Most Dynamic Company of the Year and Best Romanian Brand of the Year.

Looking back at 2022, if you were the sole juror of the Awards, which person or organization would you give a trophy to and why (not necessarily related to the business world – it can be social, sports, politics, etc., any field you think someone excelled in and brought recognition for our country)?

Personally, I appreciate every each of the contestants, but if I should give anyone the big prize will be Autonom, because they are a Romanian brand, because of their flexibility and dynamism and also because of the great team and the fact that we are sharing the same values.
