Auchan and Leroy Merlin, with the support of the Ministry of Health and the Department of Emergency Situations (DSU), started the organization of a hospital for non-critical persons, coordinating the realization of a multi-partner project in the service of the medical system.

Thus, a building belonging to Leroy Merlin, located in Mogoșoaia area, will be transformed into a center for reception, sorting, accommodation and preliminary treatment of patients infected with coronavirus, and the more serious cases will be transferred to other hospital units. The allocated area of 7,500 m2 is equipped with all the basic utilities (water, energy, sewerage, etc.) and will be arranged, thanks to the efforts of all those who join the project, in a pre-hospital unit.

After the equipment is completed, the building will be handed over to the medical authorities decided by the Romanian Government, to be operated by professional medical personnel.

“That’s how we felt we had to get involved, which we thought was the most appropriate thing to do: a campaign hospital, even if it was a long way off. Here we want to receive people infected with coronavirus, which would lessen, as far as possible, the pressure that hospitals may be subjected to. This initiative is carried out with the support and collaboration of the Ministry of Health and the Department of Emergency Situations (DSU), and we wish, to the extent that it will be needed and we will be successful with this first unit, to extend it to other cities. Dear business people, dear business leaders, I send you this collegial message of involvement and solidarity: we are waiting for your support, which is very important. I know that many of you have already appreciated this idea, now I invite you to implement it and thank you in advance! ” said Ionuț Ardeleanu, general manager of Auchan Retail Romania, initiator of the project.

The partnership has benefited from the start from the support of Ceetrus, Oney and Decathlon companies, and a number of preparatory works have already been carried out by service companies such as Sinclea, Dass, Damart, Avicompact. Romcarton also announced that it intends to equip the space with beds.

Companies wishing to get involved are asked to call 0374 45 46 41, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm, or by email at: sustin@auchan.ro.
