The National Museum of Art of Romania is staging the temporary exhibition Volume and Perspective, featuring the graphic creations of Theodor Pallady, at the Theodor Pallady Museum (22 Spatarului Street) in Bucharest, between July 1 and October 31. The collection comprises a few canvases by Pallady, as well as 800 drawings and engravings from the Parisian period of the great Romanian painter.
Known for the mixture of styles that he adopted throughout his career, ranging from Renaissance to Symbolism and Impressionism to Cubism, Theodor Pallady is regarded as one of Romania’s best painters and draftsmen. While studying art in Paris, he befriended French artists Henri Matisse and André Rouveyre, with whom he maintained a close relationship throughout his life.
