A fashion show featuring three Romanian designers was held last week in support of the Scheherazade foundation’s latest project to raise funds for the modernization of the Sfanta Maria hospital in Iasi. Several departments will be renewed such as the Pediatric Surgery Clinic, General Pediatrics Clinic and the Dietary Cuisine Department.
The show, which was hosted by the US Embassy in Bucharest, included the works of esigners Irina Schrotter, Stephan Pelger and Lena Criveanu.
The Sfanta Maria hospital in Iasi is one of the most important pediatric centers in the northeastern part of the country. It treats more than 60.000 patients annually, from newborns to children up to the age of 18.
Present at the event, the US Ambassador to Romania Mark Gitenstein pointed to the shortcomings faced by hospitals in Romania and to how public- private partnerships can help cover health system deficiencies.
US actor Harvey Keitel, presently shooting in Romania for the film “Ipu- Convicted to Live” on a novel of Romanian author Titus Popovici and directed by Bogdan Dreyer, was in the audience, which included around 200 guests.
