One of the people of the year, according to nytheatre.com, playwright Saviana Stanescu created the Polanski, Polanski play, with reference to the famous homonymous Polish director. The show, a mixture between theater and film, portraying an image of Polanski both as a villain and a victim, has been ordered and produced by the Nomad Theatrical Company in New York and will be staged in Bucharest at the Odeon Theater on May 29.

Polanski, Polanski stars American actor Grant Neale (in picture), who is also the artistic director of Nomad Theatrical Company in New York. His uncanny resemblance to the Polish director is one of the reasons why Neale chose to star in this play. When discussing with Saviana Stanescu in 2009 about his possible appearance in her creation, he also discovered that he shares a birthday with Polanski and that, back then, he was the same age as the Pole when he was arrested in 1977 for molestation.

“The writing is amazing… Grant Neale is remarkable and convincing and Tamilla Woodward’s direction is fluent and often surprising”, wrote Martin Denton for nytheatre.com.

The play will start at 20.30 and will take place in Sala Studio of the Odeon Theater and is played in English, with fragments in Polish and French.
