.. Bucharest’s cinema screens, that is. On March 5, Hollywood Multiplex in Bucharest is showcasing a 3D screening of Georges Bizet’s famous opera, as a press release informs.
The film’s spectators will have the possibility to watch the opera through four representations captured with the RealD technology. Carmen, the movie, is the result of a collaboration between RealD and the London Royal Opera House.
Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen premired in Paris on March 3, 1875, three months before the composer’s death. The libretto, written by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halevy, was based on a novella by Prosper Merimee. In short, the opera depicts the tragic story of a soldier (Don Jose) who falls in love with a beautiful factory worker (Carmen), but she does not reciprocate his feelings.
Part of the distribution are: Christine Rice, Bryan Hymel, Aris Argiris, Maija Kovalevska, Dawid Kimberg, Nicolas Courjal and Elena Xanthoudakis. Hollywood Multiplex is located on Calea Vitan 55-59, Bucharest.
