Night public transport is introduced in Bucharest

The Bucharest Autonomous Transportation Administration (RATB – Regia Autonoma de Transport Bucuresti) will introduce special night public transport buses starting with the night July 15-July 16. This initiative comes as a consequence to numerous public requests in this manner, state RATB officials.  

These lines will have their main terminal in Piata Unirii and will circulate in the 23.00-01.00 and 05.00-06.00 interval at a 30-minute rate, while between 01.00-05.00, every 60 minutes.

“Public night transport brings advantages to travelers, from a social standpoint, through reduced costs, as well as for the touristic development of the capital city, considering the fact that the old city center is very visited in this time of the year. The city’s development component needs to be taken into consideration as well, considering the economical benefits of this initiative for the firms that are open during the night, as well as the fact that certain people work during the night and will thus have the opportunity to take the public transport from downtown Bucharest to the periphery. Thus, Bucharest enters major European cities through this project,” stated Adrian Crit, RATB general manager.
