nZEB Expo, the largest local event in the field of energy efficient buildings, will take place this weekend at Romexpo, Pavilion B2. Dedicated to the general public, the event aims to inform on nZEB and Passive House principles and brings together in one place more than 150 manufacturers and distributors of building materials, together with numerous specialists in the field, who will debate a variety of applied topics or hold dedicated workshops.

The official opening of nZEB Expo will take place on Friday 14 June at 12:30 at Romexpo, Pavilion B2. During the three days, participants will be able to visit the exhibition areas of the 150 exhibitors, arranged according to the areas of interest to the consumer, will have the opportunity to gain know-how from a variety of local and international speakers, relevant names in the industry, who will give various presentations on the two dedicated stages and will have the opportunity to attend over 25 workshops.

“nZEB Expo is a unique opportunity for all those interested in energy efficient buildings to interact directly with experts in the field, discover innovative solutions and see state-of-the-art technologies in action, such as the largest 3D printer in Romania. We invite you to join us at this landmark event to learn, explore and contribute to the sustainable future of building,” said Marius Șoflete, passive house design engineer and co-organiser of nZEB Expo.

A first in Romania – 3D printer that will print a house structure in real time

At nZEB Expo, the public will have the opportunity, for the first time ever, to see in action the largest 3D printer in Romania, Wasp The Crane, provided by WOP3D. It will print, in real time, a house structure and other decorative elements. The WASP Crane is a collaborative and modular 3D printer with multiple configurations. The base module offers a print volume of 8.20 metres in diameter and 3.2 metres in height, and is capable of printing with cement or clay-based mortars.

Innovative building digitisation solutions through virtual and augmented reality

Visitors will also have the opportunity to discover a variety of innovative solutions in the field of energy-efficient construction presented by exhibiting companies. These include, for example, Leviatan Design – a Romanian integrated design & build construction engineering services company. At their booth, participants will be able to see what the digitisation of construction entails, exploring construction projects with the help of virtual and augmented reality, realised through surface modelling and scanning.

More than 150 manufacturers and distributors of building materials will participate in the exhibition, offering solutions for energy-efficient construction. Products on display include heat pumps, heat recovery ventilation systems, performance joinery, prefabricated house systems, insulation and waterproofing systems, photovoltaic panels and turnkey roofing solutions.

Over 50 speakers, 3 dedicated stages and a variety of workshops

Over the three days, the event will address a variety of specific topics. On Friday, discussions will focus on large-scale nZEB construction, including legislative and financial challenges for real estate developers and large builders, as well as solutions offered by financial and energy companies such as EON and Banca Transilvania. Companies discussing these topics include Kasper Development, Oradea Local Development Agency and Hils Development.

Saturday will be the day dedicated to engineers, architects and craftsmen, with technical discussions on nZEB and passive house standard design. A highlight will be the “Smart City” conference by Carlos Moreno, internationally renowned urban planner and originator of the “15 minute city” concept. On Sunday, case studies on nZEB and passive house projects will be presented, with interventions by beneficiaries who will share their experience of living in such a house.

Various workshops will also take place over the three days, including workshops on correct window installation, leak testing, demonstrations with professional power tools, carpentry, roofing and waterproofing.
