Business Review engaged in a captivating conversation with Ema Iftimie, the Managing Director of Globalworth Romania, for an in-depth interview that will be featured as a main highlight in Business Review Magazine’s March 2024 edition titled Outstanding Women in Business. In this exclusive dialogue, Ema opens up about her strategic initiatives and achievements since taking the helm at Globalworth Romania, a leading figure in the commercial real estate sector.

What are your main achievements within the company since you hold this position?

Since the 1st of December 2023, I am the Managing Director of Globalworth Romania and, in my current position, I work towards expanding the company’s vision of building sustainable, collaborative environments through cutting-edge real estate technologies.

For the last decade, I have dedicated all my efforts to Globalworth, leading landmark projects such as Globalworth Square, Globalworth Tower, Globalworth Campus and many more. Among the impressive leasing transactions of the last year, I mention eMag and Banca Transilvania which alone rented almost 10,000 sqm each. Additionally, Honeywell’s extension was a staggering 24,000+ sqm, closely followed by Deutsche Bank’s 12,500 sqm. These numbers indicate our keen eye for tapping into market demands and shaping the leasing landscape in Bucharest.

Our unique approach to client service, combining a holistic understanding of tenant needs with a forward-thinking strategy, has resulted in successful partnerships with industry titans such as Amazon, Vodafone, Huawei, Deutsche Bank, Nestle, and many others.

In your opinion, what makes a woman to be successful in business?

Women can excel by leveraging their unique strengths and overcoming challenges with determination and strategic thinking. Additionally, societal support for gender equality and breaking down barriers can contribute to a more conducive environment for women in business.

Often perceived as more collaborative and empathetic communicators, women may prioritize building relationships and fostering teamwork. They are usually associated with transformational leadership, emphasizing inspiration, motivation and personal development of team members. When it comes to conflict resolution, women may prefer a constructive approach to conflict resolution, seeking win-win solutions and considering the emotions of those involved. As for the leadership style, they are often in favor of openness and inclusiveness, emphasizing relationship-building and team cohesion.

It is crucial to recognize that individual differences often outweigh gender-related generalizations and effective leaders can possess a mix of traits from both perceived “feminine” and “masculine” styles in business. Organizations benefit from diversity in management, as a variety of perspectives and approaches can lead to more innovative and well-rounded decision-making. Gender should not be a determining factor in assessing leadership capabilities.

What is your major professional achievement in your entire career?

I believe being part of the team that writes Globalworth’s success story is the most important achievement of my career. Managing our vibrant Romanian team of real estate professionals, ensuring every tenant receives individualized support and underscoring the company’s dedication to not just meeting but exceeding its diverse tenant base’s expectations are some of the major accomplishments so far.

Also being a Board Member of the Globalworth Foundation and actively participating in supporting various CSR initiatives that significantly impact the local community is very important for me. We opened a kindergarten for Ukrainian children in Globalworth BOB, created a dedicated trail that combines wildlife observations with healthy outdoor recreation in Vacaresti National Park and inaugurated the first Hi-Tech Center at “Ion Mincu” Architecture and Urbanism University are just a few of our recent programs.
