According to the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Commerce, direct Spanish investments in Romania in the first nine months of 2009 amounted to EUR 12.6 mil, down almost 85% over the similar period in 2008.  According to the National Trade Register Office- Spain remains the 9th largest foreign investor in Romania.
