MedLife opened last week its MedLife Baneasa Hyperclinic, following an investment of EUR 1 million. The center, which covers a surface of 1,600 sqm, offers imagistic services, laboratory analysis, consultations and thorough examinations for all medical areas.

The new clinic is estimated to bring the center an average of 12,000 patients monthly. “We are confident in the success of this clinic and we are expecting that in the first year of activity it will reach a turnover of EUR 1 million and boost our volume of patients by 20 percent,” said Mihai Marcu, chairman of the MedLife administration board.

The firm will also open inside the hyperclinic a surgical unit for interventions of general medicine, ophthalmology, otolaryngology (ENT) and proctology, which will require another investment of EUR 1 million.

In 2009, MedLife posted a turnover of RON 109 million (nearly EUR 25.8 million), which represents a growth of 40 percent compared to 2008. The operational profit was RON 23 million (approximately EUR 5.4 million). In 2009, the company had 965,000 patients.

This year, the firm estimates its turnover will increase by 40 percent. For this year, MedLife representatives said the company has an investment budget of EUR 15 million, which has been allocated to developing and expanding the business.

The Baneasa Hyperclinic includes, exclusively for MedLife clinics, a center of excellence in Proctology, which offers a complete range of investigations and procedures related to disorders of the colon, rectum and anus.

The Hyperclinic MedLife Baneasa comprises 25 offices for various medical specialties. The new clinic is part of the network of MedLife Hyperclinics, this being the fifth such large unit opened in Romania, after forerunners in Grivita, Unirii, Favorit and Timisoara.

This year, MedLife representatives are aiming to open three new units – two in Bucharest and one in Cluj – while over the next four years, the company aims to reach a network of 25 large clinics in Bucharest and the rest of the country. Some of these will have hospital units with unique specialization.
