Mobile operator Vodafone Romania has injected EUR 4.7 million EUR (RON 19.7 million) into the social capital of Proton Technologies, a retailer that it acquired through the company Sayfone 2009. In 2008 Vodafone took a stake of 66 percent of the retail network of Proton Technologies, previously one of the main retail partners of Orange Romania.
The following year, the operator installed a new general manager at the head of the retailer, Adrian Florea, who had until then been marketing manager in the residential customer division at Vodafone.
Also this week the operator launched Vodafone PC Protection, a complete IT security package which protects computers against informatics threats.
The service addresses new and existing users of Vodafone Mobile Broadband services as well as clients of Vodafone Office Connect. The solution includes Anti-virus, Anti Spyware, Firewall, Anti Spam, web content filtering, Pop-Up Blocker and parental control.
Vodafone Romania had a total of 9,730,000 customers at March 31. Postpaid users accounted for 38 percent and prepaid for 62 percent of the company’s total customer base. In the fiscal year 2009/2010 the firm posted total revenues of EUR 921.5 million, a decrease of 21 percent as compared to the previous financial year.
