Teodor Melescanu resigns, Mihnea Motoc nominated as new foreign minister

Prime Minister Victor Ponta announced he will nominate Romania’s ambassador to the EU Mihnea Motoc as the new minister of foreign affairs. PM also thanked Teodor Melescanu, mentioning that “he did everything he could in one week”.

Thousands of people took to the streets in Bucharest Sunday evening after the end of the voting in the second round of Romania’s presidential elections to protest the handling of the vote logistics for Romanians voting abroad, Mediafax reported.For about eight hours on Sunday night people protested to support Romanian voters abroad who queued for hours to cast their vote and demand that the voting schedule be extended to allow everyone to express their option.
