Danone Romania saw its sales go up by 10 percent last year against 2009, to RON 476 million (approximately EUR 113 million). The company’s net profit also went up last year said Stephane Batoux, general manager of Danone Romania (pictured), without mentioning the actual figures.
In 2010, Danone invested RON 17 million locally, focusing on the development of industrial capacity, technology, logistics and distribution. Some of the money was invested into the Going West program, a program through which Danone supports partner farms to increase milk collection and quality.
Danone’s production unit in Bucharest makes 1.3 million products a day. 90 percent of the products the company sales in Romania are made locally and 3 percent of the local production is exported to countries from the Adriatic region, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova.
Danone has 740 employees in Romania and sells 70 types of products.
