Romania’s unemployment remains flat at 7.1 percent in September

The unemployment rate in Romania stood at 7.1 percent in September, similar to the previous month, but down by 0.6 percent from the same period of last year, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).

Around 699,000 people, aged 12-74, were unemployed in September. There were 692,000 unemployed in the previous month and 748,000 in September 2011. The data comes from a quarterly household statistical research on the work force,

The unemployment rate in males stood at 7.6 percent, while in females it was 6.6 percent.

The unemployed aged 25 to 74 represented 75.5 percent of the total unemployment figures in September, according to INS.
