Romanians’ trust in the local economy continued to be on a downward trend in August, according to the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) survey issued this week by the European Commission.
The indicator has decreased to 92.3 points in August, from 93.6 points the previous month, remaining below the 97.3 points average at European level. This also has gone down by 5 points in August.
Economic sentiment was down further more in both the EU and the euro area. The highest declines were reported by Germany (-5.7 points) and the UK (-5.6), followed by Poland (-3.6), the Netherlands (-3.0) and, Italy (-0.7).
Romania has recorded the lowest level in September 1992, with 71.7 points while the the maximum, of 123 points, was achieved in June 1996.
