Collection of Used Clothes for a Unique Slow Fashion Line

Electric Castle and Promenada Mall Bucharest have launched a collection drive for used clothes, which will be transformed into the first clothing line made from recycled materials under the festival’s brand. The campaign, “It’s not goodbye, it’s wear you later,” aims to promote sustainable consumption and creative reuse, with all proceeds from the collection sales going to support programs for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Until April 9, clothes can be donated in a special box located on the first floor of Promenada Mall Bucharest. Any type of clothing can be donated as long as it is clean, regardless of the material or level of wear, with the exception of underwear and footwear. The collected clothes will be handled by Velements, one of the promoters of sustainable fashion in Romania, to be transformed into a capsule clothing collection through recycling and redesign techniques. To ensure no fabric goes to waste, textile scraps will be used to create bean bags that will add extra comfort at the festival. Everyone who joins the campaign has a chance to win a ticket to EC10 by taking a photo of the clothing collection box and posting it on Instagram.

The collection will be sold at Electric Castle 2024, with all proceeds donated to World Vision to support the foundation’s projects for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Electric Castle has a long tradition of creative reuse initiatives. Ten years ago, the festival launched its first collection of bags made from outdoor promotional materials (banners, mesh), an initiative that has been successfully repeated over the years. The festival consistently collaborates with young Romanian designers through dedicated collections featured in the anti-mall area at each edition. Similarly, Promenada has been dedicated to promoting sustainable fashion, hosting exhibitions and clothing collections made from recyclable materials, and supporting various sustainable fashion initiatives and projects.
