Local wine producer WineRo estimates that it will recover its EUR 9.5 million total investment in the region of Dobrogea at Aliman by 2018. The company owns 80 ha of vineyard in the region and this year will see a production of approximately 4.5 tons per hectare.

The company was set up in 2006 and started bottles the Alira premium brand. This year it will reach a production of 250,000 bottles and hopes to grow to 700,000 bottles in 2012 after its own winery in Rosova, near Aliman will be completed.

Ghenadie Bobeica, the company’s managing director says that the local premium wine market is growing despite the general downward trend. Overall the Romanian wine market has decreased in the past years but its structure has changed. The medium segment was the most affected, loosing share in favor of entry-level and premium wines.

WineRo was set up in 2006 and its shareholders include count Stephan von Neipperg who owns several vineyards in Bordeaux and Karl-Heinz Hauptmann a former director at Merrill Lynch London. WineRo is part of Bessa Valley which has 300 ha of vineyard in neighboring Bulgaria where it produces the Enira wines.
