Dozens of children hospitalized at Fundeni Hospital will benefit from a new and modern nephrology department

Dozens of children hospitalized at the Fundeni Hospital in Bucharest will benefit from a new and modern nephrology department, by rethinking and renovating the entire space intended for their care. The design project will be developed by TESSERACT ARCHITECTURE, the only architecture studio specialized in the medical industry in Romania, at the initiative of the Metropolis Foundation. The value of the investment amounts to approximately 200,000 euros.

TESSERACT architects will make the reduced surface of the section (only 325 sqm) more efficient, by adding the elementary functions necessary in such a hospital section, such as sanitary groups in salons or storage spaces. They have also foreseen the grouping of functions for medical staff and will even add a special area for children’s activities, within the ward.

 “The current state of the section is no different from the state of other public hospitals in Romania and we are eager to contribute, together with the Metropolis Foundation, to this renovation project.

In addition to the basic functions, without which this department cannot function, we will also design humanizing solutions, integration of design elements that will actively contribute to healing – such as an area of for activities for the little patients. Most hospitals in Romania are designed according to outdated standards, are cold and unfriendly and the studies and practice of major international hospitals show that the play component has an extraordinary beneficial effect and effectively contributes to the healing process,” states Arch.
