Telecom operator Vodafone Romania, number two on the Romanian market in terms of revenues and customer base, has announced the beginning of a strategic partnership with Huawei for managed services in some areas of its technology operations.
Under the five-year-agreement, the Chinese company will manage field service network operations such as site maintenance and building and infrastructure preventive activities for Vodafone Romania.
Approximately 70 experts from Vodafone will join Huawei as part of the dedicated team in charge of these activities.
“Huawei was the supplier of services and equipment of Vodafone Romania in important projects such as the launch of the 3G UMTS network in the bandwidth 900 MHz, which brought Romanians access to high-speed mobile internet all over the country, as well as the implementation of the All IP network. We wish to continue to reach high levels of network performance and optimize our operational efficiency,” said Babak Fouladi, CTO Vodafone Romania.
Vodafone Romania had 8,327,280 clienti at December 31, 2011.
Huawei is one of the main suppliers of IT&C solutions, with revenues over USD 28 billion in 2010.
