The specialists of the Central Lab for Valea Calugareasca Wine Quality Check and Hygene have checked, during the period before Easter, 316 samples of wine, collected both from distributors’ storage, as well as from producers, concluding that some wine lots produced and bottled in Bulgaria were counterfeit, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Acoording to the source, the aim of the checks was the consumers’ assurance regarding the authenticity of the Romanian wines.
As a result of the checks in the special labs, were discovered counterfeit wine lots produced and bottled in Bulgaria and were banned from sale and returned to the Bulgarian supplier.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development underlines that the Romanian wine market offers qualitative products, complying with the law.
The annual wine consumption in Romania is 25 liters/capita and represents only a half of the consumption of the developed countries, which reaches over 50 liters/capita.
