The Competition Council is planning to expand this year the price monitor at a national level and to introduce a similar tool to compare fuel prices by the end of the year, Bogdan Chiritoiu announced on Tuesday.
“If things go well, I would like to expand the price monitor at a national level by the end of this year. (…) We would like to do something similar on the fuel market, also this year, in parallel, to make sure there is an instrument through which all clients can compare prices,” Chiritoiu said.
According to Chiritoiu, the institution it represents also plans, this year, to finalize investigations in the financial sector. Among them, that regarding the RCA market, given that the capping of tariffs is due to expire in a month and a half, so that there is a need for a combination of laws that can lead to the market stabilization.
Moreover, currently, the Competition Council is carrying out investigations on the auction market, but also in the pharma sector. “Our purpose on the pharma sector is to see a bigger penetration of cheaper, generic drugs. We have initiated an investigation in the sector to make a series of recommendations to the executive in this field” the Competition Council president said.
