Improved macroeconomics and positive corporate financials reported for 2016 have fueled an increase of over 10 percent of the BET, the main index of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), since the beginning of the year, BVB chairman Lucian Anghel told AGERPRES on Wednesday.
“This is perhaps the best year start we’ve seen in many years. I believe there are several reasons behind this. First of all, Romania’s macroeconomics show a very good outlook for the year ahead with an economic growth forecast which is well above the EU average,” said Anghel adding that the second reason is the high level of dividends payed in Romania.
The fact that many companies have reported excellent 2016 financials will further boots investors’ confidence in further stock prices increase.
The BET index for the best performing ten stocks traded on BVB maintained its upward trend on Wednesday morning, reaching to 7,975 points, twenty minutes into the trading session, which was the highest level for over nine years, according to Agerpres.
