Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest festival will start on October 14 from 18:30 and will last for ten days. Over 6,000 tickets were sold in advance.
Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest will take place this year at CinemaPRO, Cinema Elvire Popesco, Cinema Muzeul Taranului and Sala Auditorium of Romanian National Museum of Art.
The event will open with Toni Erdmann, with the attendance of the director Maren Ade, who will speak with the public at the end of the movie. The comedy is almost entirely filmed at Bucharest and won the award FIPRESCI and will represent Germany at the Oscar Gala 2017.
Maren Ade, film lovers will see her in Everyone Else/ Alle Anderen (2009), another successful film of the German director.
Another special guest this weekend is the artist Mania Akbari, who will be present at the projections of the films of Abbas Kiarostami. In the Tribut Abbas Kiarostami section there will be screenings of some of the films of the Iranian director: Close-Up (1990), Through the Olive Trees (1994), Le Goût de la cerise/ Taste of Cherry (Palme d’Or, Cannes 1997) and Ten (2002), with Mania Akbari in the leading principal.
Saturday is the films marathon day at CinemaPRO, starting at 13:30 with The Woman Who Left, the new film of the director Lav Diaz, awarded with Golden Lion at Venice Festival and continues from 18:00 with Fire at Sea ( Gianfranco Rosi – director), the documentary awarded with the Golden Bear at Berlin. From 21:15, the film awarded with Palme D’Or, I Daniel Blake, will be on the screens.
The Finish director Juho Kuosmanen, the winner of the section Un Certain Regard la Cannes, with The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki, will be present on Sunday, from 18:30 at Cinema Elvire.
