According to the president of the Romanian-American Business Council, Eric Stewart, the difficulties with which Romanians gain access to the USA is an obstacle for American business.
This is why the 15 companies that form the Council, among which Chevron, ExxonMobil or Johnson&Johnson, are making efforts to convince the Congress in Washington to include Romania in the Visa Waiver program.
“It is an obstacle in the way of business if Romanians and Americans can’t travel with ease between the two countries, but at the same time it is important to remember that our inability to adopt a more streamlined visa legislation has nothing to do with Romania and everything to do with the debate regarding immigration law and the western hemisphere. It is a shame that Romania is not included in the Visa Waiver Program“, Eric Stewart commented.

The council’s members are involved in developing the economic component of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States.
“Our Council is deeply engaged in this endeavor, we have new members in the Congress. I and other company representatives from the Council have explained to the congressmen that their keeping out of the Visa Waiver program one of USA’s most important allies”, Stewart added
