The man who stole a gun from a gendarme during the anti-government protests that took place on August 10 in Victoria Square was arrested by the police. He is placed under arrest for a period of 30 days.
During the Friday evening protests the man took the gun from a female gendarme who got left behind by her colleagues and, when surrounded by a mob of angry protesters, got hit and could not hold on to her gun.
The decision, issued by Bucharest’s Sector 1 court, is binding but can be appealed.
The man was identified by the Ilfov County police based on information sent by a citizen and was found by officers the homicide department.
Aged 32, the man is accused of not complying with the arms and ammunition regime and disturbing public order.
