The number of mandatory insured houses, under PAD policies, went down in June by 3.48 percent, reaching 1.67 million, compared with 1.73 million PAD policies active on June 31, 2016, according to statistics by the Pool of Insurance Against Natural Disasters (PAID).
At the end of 2016 there were 1.70 million PAID policies in place, while on December 31, 2015 there were 1.59 million policies.
According to PAID, at the end of June 75.8 percent of the active policies at national level were closed in the urban area and 24.2 percent in rural area and according to the house type, 92.9 percent of PAD policies were for type A houses and 7.1 percent were type B houses.
Most of the active policies are in Transylvania (20 percent overall), Bucharest (19 percent) and Muntenia (18 percent) and the least are in Maramures (3 percent) and Bucovina (3 percent).
PAID issues mandatory housing insurance since July 2010.
