Okian.ro, online books retailer specialized in sales of books in English, registered sales to over RON 2 million in 2016, by almost 40 percent higher compared with 2015 and estimates a similar growth in revenues for 2017.

According to the representatives of bookstore, the main factor of the evolution registered in 2016 was the increase of Romanian’s demand for literature in English. Fiction is still in top sales, especially sub-genres young adult and fantasy.

On non-fiction, business titles and personal and professional development books were the best sold.

The board games, puzzles and accessories (cans, agendas or decorations) contributed by 10 percent to the turnover of the company.

The average order on Okian.ro reached RON 130, at the same level with 2015.

The highest price for book order on Okian.ro in 2016 reached approximately RON 4,000.

„As we expected, Black Friday represented the most crowded period of 2016, the revenues of the company registering a growth by approximately 50 percent compared with 2015. Thus the sales for a foreign book generated in five days by the campaign were equivalent with the orders in 42 usual days of the year,” said Simona Leonte, CEO Okian.ro.

Starting 2017, Okian.ro will function as a separate company than Prems Librexim, under the coordination of Simona Leonte, the new CEO of the online bookstore. She took over the position from  Tudor Benga, co-founder of Okian, after she dedicated to a career in public sector. Leonte has been part of the Okian team for eight years and she previously led the e-commerce department for four years. She graduated from the Marketing Faculty within Transilvania University from Brasov.
