Airbus has announced the appointment of Serge Durand as head of the company’s operations in Romania. In this role, he will represent Airbus in front of authorities and partners, will identify and follow the implementation of new development opportunities, will lead the country strategy planning process and will coordinate the company’s activities in Romania, focusing on increasing presence on the local market.

Durand will also continue to lead the operations of Airbus Helicopters in Romania, a role he has held since 2015.

“I am honored by this role in Romania, a country we’ve been cooperating with for almost half a century. I am certain that we will grow our ambitions and become more competitive. With operations in Commercial Aircraft, Helicopters and Premium Aerotec – a component supplier for Airbus aircraft – along with the Defence and Space division, Airbus aims to offer clients a more comprehensive portfolio, quality counselling and our international experience”, said Durand.

A graduate of the National Applied Sciences Institute in Lyon, with a degree in engineering and one in humanities at the Provence University, Serge Durand has an impressive international career at Airbus.

He worked in the Airbus Design office for ten years, focusing on the Tiger and Super Puma models, and continued as a communication director for Airbus Helicopters, then moving on to a deputy commercial director of the international Airbus network. He organized the launch of Tiger and was the general director of Airbus Helicopters Mexico for five years, contributing to the development of commercial operations of the group in the north of Latin America and laid the foundations for the Queretaro industrial platform, which has become a reference point.
