The European Commissioner for regional policy, Corina Cretu, approved the continuation of 10 projects of high importance in Romania, with European funds of approximately EUR 800 million. The investments comprise infrastructure works started in 2007 and 2013, that will be finished in the current scheduled period.
“These projects represent more than simple investment in infrastructure: used efficiently they can become catalyst of the local, regional and national development. This is why is much more important that EU funds be used in a strategic manner and according to the investments priorities in Romania,” said Cretu.
In transports, the investments are in the construction of the Brasov highway, on section I (DN1-DN11), section II (DN11-DN13) and section III (DN13-DN1), as well as in the rehabilitation of the railway Brasov-Simeria, part of the pan-European hall IV section Sighisoara-Coslariu.
In waste management, the investments are in the Caras-Severin, in Constanta and Iasi counties in the development of the integrated management system of waste.
In water infrastructure, the investments are in the expansion and modernization of the water and used water systems in Covasna, Brasov and Teleorman, as well as the modernization of the channel system.
