Unemployment rate down to 6.4 pct in February, shows INS

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 6.4 percent in February 2015, lower by 0.1 percent against the previous month and by 0.6 percent compared to the level recorded in February 2014, according to the data released on Tuesday by the National Statistics Institute (INS) and quoted by Agerpres.

The number of the unemployed (people aged 15 to 74), estimated for February 2015 was 597,000, down from the previous month (607,000 people) as well as compared to the same month of 2014 (644,000 people).

By gender, men’s unemployment rate exceeds by 0.6 percent women’s rate (the values being 6.7 percent for men and 6.1 percent in the case of women).

For adults (people aged 25 to 74), unemployment rate was estimated at 5.1 percent for February 2015 (5.5 percent for men and 4.7 percent for women). The number of jobless people aged 25 to 74 represents 74.1 percent of the total number of the unemployed persons estimated for February 2015.
