Private label sales represented 23 percent of Mega Image’s turnover in Romania in 2013 or about about EUR 121.8 million (RON 538 million), according to a company report cited by Mediafax. The retailer, part of Belgian Delhaize group, operates a network of 331 stores in Romania under the Mega Image (supermarkets), Shop&Go (proximity stores) and AB Cool Food (only one store which sells exclusively frozen foods retail brands) retail brands. It’s private labels are 365, Gusturi Romanesti and Delhaize.
Frans Muller, CEO of Delhaize, has previously stated that developing the private label portfolio and improving services are the group’s priorities in Romania, according to Mediafax.
