At Brukenthal National Museum from Sibiu has been launched “i-locate”, the acronym of “Indoor / outdoor location and Asset Management Through Open Geodata”, a project which aims to simplify the life of users by helping them “navigate” inside buildings, using their smartphone, to reach their place of destination, providing further information available regarding queues, unforeseen change in schedule.
“In Romania, this app will be functional starting 2016 only at Brukenthal Museum, as follows: in the Palace, only a few exhibitions and at the History Museum, for the thesaurus”, stated Anamaria Tudorie, press officer of the Brukenthal Museum for Agerpres newswire. She also argued that this app won’t submit the presence of the guides or the audio-guides.
“i-locate” will last three years starting from 1 January 2014, it has a total budget of EUR 4.7 million and it is being co-financed by the European Commission (through the ICT-PSP programme). The project involves 24 partners located in nine European countries (Croatia, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Romania).
