Regina Maria takes over 4 Hiperdia centers in a transaction imposed by Competition Council

Affidea, formerly Euromedic, has transferred four of the 23 Hiperdia diagnostic centers in Romania, taken over last year in a conditional transaction Competition Council (CC) imposed, to the Regina Maria health network.

Affidea is controlled by Swiss billionaire Ernesto Bertarelli, and the sold clinics are from Arad, Orastie and Cluj-Napoca (two).

”The decision is in full agreement with the directives set by the Competition Council in 2017, with the acquisition of the 23 Hiperdia centers by Affidea. Our concern over this process has been to ensure that patients continue to receive healthcare at high quality standards. We will continue to invest in our 36 centers and, at the same time, we aim to expand our services to other regions of the country by giving patients wider and faster access to high quality medical services, top radiologists in Europe and state-of-the-art technologies. We have a special respect for the employees of the four Hiperdia centers and I trust they will benefit from the same quality and performance conditions to further their care and attention to patients, ” Radu Gorduza, CEO of Affidea said.

Affidea International has as sole shareholder the Waypoint Capital investment group, which operates in two areas: medical science and asset management, including real estate.

Waypoint Capital’s chairman is Ernesto Bertarelli, the richest Swiss national, with a fortune estimated at USD 8.6 billion, and has its headquarters in Geneva, with offices in London, Jersey, Boston and Luxembourg.

In Romania, Affidea has been on the medical services market for 18 years and has 17 medical centers. In the summer of 2015, Waypoint also took over the Sanmed medical centers in Romania and in the summer of 2015, Euromedic, a private health care provider, went through a rebranding process and renamed Affidea.
