The minister of finance, Eugen Teodorovici, says that the Competition Council will analyze how Romanian companies are treated in each member state.
Teodorovici said that there are many sectors of the economy in which Romanian companies are “treated with contempt.”
“A department will be created at the level of the Competition Council to analyze each EU member state’s treatment of Romanian business – twice a year it will create a report for each EU state and each economic sector,” said the minister during BR’s Country Focus Community Forum.
The minister suggested that in Western Europe, there is a “will” to run Romanian transport firms out of business. He added that in Belgium, Romanian trucks are stopped often in traffic, drivers are fined. Teodorovici alleged that this move leads to delays on orders handled by Romanian freight companies and creates higher costs that make them uncompetitive.
