Visit the Romanian Athenaeum – virtual trip

Newsroom 10/01/2012 | 13:21

The Romanian Atheneaeum, one of the symbolic buildings in Romania, and illustrative for the Romanian capital Bucharest, is also available for a virtual visit.

By accessing this link, users can see 30 panoramic pictures of very good quality.

The Romanian Athenaeum was opened in 1888, and is the main concert hall in Bucharest and home of the George Enescu Philharmonic. It is also one of the buildings that hosts the annual George Enescu international music festival.

The building was designed by French architect Albert Galleron, built on a property that had belonged to the Vacarescu family. A portion of the construction funds was raised by public subscription in a 28-year long effort, of which the slogan is still remembered today: “Donate one leu for the Ateneu!”
