A statue that communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu received from Chinese leader Mao Tsedong in the 1970s set the record at the Golden Age bidding organized by Artmark, going under the hammer for EUR 12,000.
The total sales following the Golden Age bidding amounted to EUR 53,910, exceeding expectations.
Other items that sold at very good prices during the Golden Age bidding were a pair of silver doves gifted to Nicolae Ceausescu from the Iran Shah, which went for EUR 7,500, a work by Constantin Artachino, called Scanteia, which went for EUR 4,000 and a tiger fur, which went for EUR 4,000.
