The Romanian financing program is part of a project dealing with community public libraries, named “Global Libraries.” It is developed with the international organization International Research & Exchanges (Irex). At the conclusion of the planning grant, Irex will present the Foundation with a nationwide program implementation plan. “2.912 public libraries are equipped with 400 Internet-provided access computers, most of them in urbane areas. We aim through this program to enlarge the public access to information,” said Paul-Andre Baran, Irex project coordinator.
