Radio Romania Muzical is broadcasting two concert series this week which should not be missed, especially as most mobile phones provide excellent access to FM radio.

April 8-12 at 19:00, RRM will broadcast live Sala Radio’s 2nd edition of the Antique Violins Festival. Stay tuned-in during intermissions, which will include interviews with principal performers.

- 8 Apr – Bogdan Zvoristeanu (violin Gagliano 1761) and Alessio Nebiolo (guitar) performing Bach, Paganini, Bartok, Saraste and Piazzolla.
- 9 Apr – Gabriel Croitoru (violin Guarneri del Gesu) and Valentin Gheorghiu (piano) performing Beethoven.
- 10 Apr – Liviu Prunariu (violin Stradivarius) and the Chamber Radio Orchestra with director Jozsef Horvath performing Warlock, Haydn, and Mendelssohn.
- 11 Apr – George Cosmin Banica (violin Testore 1710) and Razvan Dragnea (piano) performing Enescu, Stravinski, Ceaikovski, Dvorak and Saint-Saens.
April 9-12 at 14:30, RRM will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Madrigal National Chamber Chorus, via live broadcast and recorded sessions from its archive. RRM has invited special guests to help commemorate the Madrigal’s dynamic history, including soprana Angela Gheorghiu [who collaborated on their CD ‘Mysterium’], directors Dan Mihai Goia and Horia Andreescu, and actor Ion Caramitru. The Madrigal chorus which has performed throughout the world, was established in 1963 upon the initiative of Romanian conductor Marin Constantin and students of the Bucharest music conservatory, and in 1992 was included in the UNESCO patrimony.

- 10 Apr – Renaissance madrigals; guests include Ion Caramitru and composer Irina Odagescu.

- 12 Apr – Romanian classic & contemporary choral music; guests include music-journalist Sorina Goia and music-historian Grigore Constantinescu.
