CEO Clubs launches in Romania

Chief Executive Officers Club International (CEO Clubs), a networking organization for top executives, will officially launch in Romania tomorrow, through a conference that will be held by Dr. Srini Pillay, professor at Harvard Medical School and author of several books on the relationship between brains and business. The title of the conference held tomorrow in Bucharest will be “Leadership in High Stakes”.

At present, CEO Clubs Romania has 20 members, executives from the banking sector, FMCG, retail or constructions. These mangers are leading companies that have a total estimate value of EUR 1 billion. Among the members are Ronald Binkofski, CEO Microsoft Romania, Gabriel Pantelimon, country manager XEROX Romania and Murat Atay, general director of Garanti Bank Romania.

Sotiris Chatzidakis, executive vice president of CEO Clubs South-East Europe, highlighted some of the clubs benefits for managers: “you will know everyone in the club by their first name and you need to have fun order in order to accept new things that are up to date”. Sotiris added that the eligibility criteria for joining the clubs are both quantitative and qualitative. The managers need to lead a business that reported a yearly turnover that exceeds EUR 10 million, and should have also built a management structure in the middle and lower segment. As for the qualitative criteria, CEO Clubs requires leaders that are willing to share, are extrovert and show eagerness to learn new things. Sotiris added that Romania is a market with great potential and expects the number of members to reach 100 in the following years.

CEO Clubs in a non-profit organization, founded 34 years ago in the USA. At present, it has subsidiaries in South Africa, India, Europe, China. Some of the headlining members of the club are Ted Turner, Steve Forbes, Michael Bloomberg or Donald Trump. The Bucharest club started operations this September and two meetings have already been organized for club members.

professional CEOs represent 72 percent of members, while entrepreneurs have the remaining 28 percent
