A series of objects that are evocative of the communist years, also known as the Golden Age, will be on public bidding on January 26 at Hilton Hotel.

Paintings, pieces of decorative art, photographs, documents, books, medals and decorations dating from that period will be up for grabs.

The points of attraction in the auction are some of the most expensive and eccentric gifts received by the couple of communist dictators Nicolae and Elena Ceausescu from other communist leaders in Africa or Asia, according to Artmark.

Among these, a carpet depicting the family of the dictator that should have decorated his most ambitious architecture project, The People’s House (sells at a starting price of EUR 800), an Elite pen that belonged to Nicolae Ceausescu (starting price EUR 2,000) or natural fur coats (starting price from EUR 1,200).
