Romanians, most computer illiterate in Europe, shows Eurostat survey

Romania was placed first in a shameful ranking made by Eurostat regarding how widespread computer use is across the European population, as half of the Romanians aged between 16 and 74 have never used a computer.

The gap separating Romania from other countries is very wide, the European average concerning computer use being 78 percent.

Other countries are far ahead- the use of computers in Sweden is 96 percent, in Denmark or The Netherlands is 94 percent, in Finland is 93 percent and in Great Britain is 91 percent.

Even when it comes to computer use in young people between 16 and 24, Romania is still at the end of the line, with 81 percent of them using the computer compared to the European average of 94 percent.
