WhatsApp Business, which was launched over a year ago on a few markets and only on Android, is being launched today for iPhones worldwide. The company, which is owned by Facebook, says that WhatsApp Business has already been adopted by millions of businesses, according to TechCrunch.
The app is designed to help small businesses reach customers on their phones. It allows businesses to create profiles that include their description, email, address and website, as well as messaging tools like automated greetings, quick replies and away messages. The app is also available in a web version.
WhatsApp Business is key for the company’s growth in emerging markets, where first-time internet users mainly get online through mobile devices, not through computers, so the app can serve as a portal to the web, similarly to Facebook.
The Business app is available today for free on iPhones in Brazil, Germany, Indonesia, India, Mexico, the UK and the US, and more markets will be added soon.
